The 2015 Ram 1500 Laramie Limited Unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show
If there was a single vehicle which could be called a “luxury truck” at the country’s largest auto show in Chicago, it was definitely the 2015 Ram 1500 Laramie Limited. Starting with the smallest model in the range this summer, the trim level will also be available for the manufacturer’s heavy duty trucks later this year.
So how is the Laramie Limited different from your standard 1500? There are ten trim levels to choose from after all, and this one is set to be the most expensive one. Is it worth its price? Well, we think it is – let’s consider all the reasons why.
You’ll notice something is different after seeing the 1500 Laramie Limited for a split second – yes, it’s the completely redesigned grille. The usual crosshair design is gone, but we think that the new chrome-heavy styling fits the vehicle very well. The huge Ram logo is shared with another new trim level of the truck – the Rebel – and adds extra power and muscle to the truck’s front fascia.
Chrome trim is prominent elsewhere on the truck’s exterior as well, including the mirrors, the 20″ by 5″ logo on the tailgate, the 20″ forged-aluminum wheels, and the front and rear bumpers (which are optional if the truck’s a little too shiny for you).
Apart from the heavy addition of chrome and the redesigned grille, the Laramie Limited is still the same 1500 we know so well… loaded up with another level of luxury.
The Laramie Limited crew cab’s interior isn’t as shiny as the truck’s exterior. Instead, it’s decorated with very dark gray Argento wood trim and features two rows of exceptionally good-looking black leather seats.
The vehicle comes with plenty of room for the passengers and a spacious center console which can be accessed through a wooden sliding door. Convenient cup holders and any other comfort features you’d expect to find in a luxury vehicle are all there in this truck.
The truck is also set to feature a Uconnect infotainment system with an 8.4″ touch-screen display for easy access of various apps, navigation, and audio playback through any kind of medium you can think of (well, expect for vinyl and audiotape).
The Laramie Limited trim level is set to be available for Ram trucks with both Crew and Mega cabs featuring a short or long wheelbase. The powertrain selection will remain the same depending on the model you’ll end up choosing, but some features, such as the four-corner air suspension or hill start assist, are standard.
For the 1500, you can pick between the standard 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 engine which peaks at 305 hp, the fuel-efficient 3 liter EcoDiesel V6 which generates 240 hp, and the mighty 5.7 liter Hemi V8 which churns out 395 hp. Depending on the engine, the transmission varies between a 6-speed automatic gearbox and a more advanced 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic alternative.
Great towing and payload ratings are standard to Ram trucks. Although the official information on the new Laramie Limited hasn’t been released yet, we can expect the 1500 to be able to tow around 10,000 lbs. with the most powerful engine.
All in all, the Laramie Limited upgrade is set to make Ram trucks even more luxurious and pleasurable to drive. Amazing comfort and breathtaking looks are added to the usual reliability and capability to create a truly exceptional combination.
